Pontoon Caretaker - Cruise Whitsundays

About the role

Cruise Whitsundays, the largest marine-based tour and transport provider in the Whitsundays, is looking for a Pontoon Caretaker to join its Marine Team. The role lives and works on the Great Barrier Reef, on pontoons near Hardy Reef, departing from Airlie Beach, QLD. It is a full-time position on a lifestyle roster of 7 days on, 7 days off, with shared accommodation and meals provided while on duty.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the pontoons and auxiliary vessels in excellent presentation
• Handle vessels and comply with Safety Management Systems
• Maintain and operate pontoon generators and engines
• Carry out general pontoon operational tasks
• Deliver crew training, including in-water training and vessel inductions
• Ensure maintenance is done on board and defects are recorded
• Perform rescue and lookout duties for guests
• Provide customer service and product delivery with the hospitality team

Required profile

• Previous deckhand experience
• Comfortable living and working on water for extended periods
• Team player with a positive can-do attitude
• Proven leadership skills, strong organisational skills and effective time management
• Flexibility to work a remote 7/7 roster over weekdays, weekends and public holidays

Required skills

• AMSA accredited Coxswain Grade 1 (Open), or Master under 24 with a MED 2/3 ticket (advantageous)
• Radio Operator's Licence
• HLTAID011 (First Aid) and HLTAID015 (CPR and Apply Oxygen)
• Responsible Service of Alcohol
• Blue Card (Working with Children's Check) and National Police Check
