Plant Operator – Utilities Construction (Backhoe)

About the role

The Ballina Shire Council is seeking an experienced backhoe operator to join its Engineering Works team. This hands‑on position supports the delivery and maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure across the Shire.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a backhoe on construction and maintenance projects.
• Assist with pipe laying, infrastructure repairs, and maintenance works.
• Operate additional plant and equipment as required.
• Support broader operational activities related to water and wastewater systems.

Required profile

• Demonstrated high‑level competence operating a backhoe in civil construction.
• Experience with construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater pipelines, manholes, and valve pits.
• Work Safely in Construction Industry Induction (white card).
• Class MR driver licence (manual transmission) or willingness to obtain.
