People Partner - Pilbara Mines (FIFO)

About the role

Rio Tinto is looking for a People Partner to support the Site General Manager of Pilbara Mines and the leadership team in turning business strategy into workforce, talent, engagement and organisational outcomes. The role leads delivery across a defined portfolio in complex, large-scale and often multi-geography environments, partnering with People Experience, Organisation and Talent Partners and specialist teams. It is a FIFO from Perth to the Pilbara on a 5-2-4-3 roster.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the trusted People Partner and primary contact for assigned Site General Managers, shaping priorities and coordinating day-to-day delivery through People Experience and specialist teams.
• Translate business strategy into near-term workforce and people plans, develop local or site actions and help fulfil the strategic workforce plan.
• Coach leaders on performance, team effectiveness, employee experience and business priorities.
• Lead performance, talent and pay health processes, including calibration, local talent strategies and out-of-cycle benchmarking.
• Support complex employee relations matters and act as escalation point for union matters, translating labour and regulatory changes into business implications.
• Lead organisational changes, restructures and transformation initiatives, supporting communication, engagement and adoption.
• Analyse engagement, workforce, case and query data to identify trends and drive action plans.
• Partner across People teams to execute aligned initiatives, manage escalations and improve service consistency.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in senior HR business partnership and people advisory, building trusted relationships with General Managers and leadership teams.
• Experience translating business strategy and workforce plans into actionable portfolio-level people priorities.
• Employee and labour relations capability, managing and escalating risk with sound judgement.
• Experience leading organisational change or restructure implementation in complex or multi-geography environments.
• Ability to interpret workforce and people data and collaborate across specialist teams.

Helpful experience

• Performance and talent calibration, pay health reviews, local talent strategies or benchmarking.
• Engaging with unions and interpreting labour or regulatory change.
• Using engagement, workforce, case or query insights to improve team effectiveness and workforce planning.
