Peer Worker – Connected Care (Launceston)

About the role

Wellways is seeking an experienced Peer Worker to use lived experience to build authentic connections and support participants in their recovery across Northern Tasmania.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mutually respectful relationships that create opportunities for connection, shared learning, growth and new possibilities.
• Use lived experience intentionally to foster trust, reciprocity, learning and meaningful connection.
• Support participants to explore identity, wellbeing, purpose and meaning.
• Facilitate connections to community, culture, family, relationships, valued roles and natural supports.
• Adapt peer support approaches in partnership with participants to reflect their strengths, preferences, goals, relationships and aspirations.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Mental Health, Mental Health Peer Work, Community Services or equivalent lived‑experience knowledge.
• Personal lived experience of mental health challenges or engagement with mental health services.
• Understanding of peer work values, recovery‑oriented and trauma‑informed practice.
• Right to work in Australia, current driver licence and willingness to travel.
• Clear National Police Record Check and relevant Working with Vulnerable People/Children checks.

• Knowledge of recovery‑oriented and trauma‑informed approaches.
