Payroll Officer (ANZ Payroll, 3 Month Contract)

About the role

A well-established and growing technology business in Sydney CBD needs an experienced Payroll Officer for an initial 3-3.5 month contract running until mid-January 2027. The role covers end-to-end ANZ payroll for about 350-400 employees, supporting day-to-day operations while the business runs a payroll project. The position reports to the Payroll Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Process the end-to-end monthly payroll for Australia and New Zealand using PayRTA / Paymetrics
• Manage payroll data including adjustments, commissions, new starters, terminations and other employee changes
• Prepare and process payroll journals and bank payments after each pay run
• Manually calculate terminations, redundancies and new starter payments where required
• Complete leave reconciliations and maintain accurate payroll records
• Prepare superannuation, PAYG and payroll tax payments
• Complete month-end payroll reconciliations, accruals and reporting, and reconcile payroll and resolve discrepancies
• Liaise with employees on payroll queries and work with Finance and People & Culture to keep payroll data accurate

Required profile

• 3-5+ years of experience managing payroll end-to-end for around 400+ employees
• Hands-on experience with the PayRTA / Paymetrics payroll system (essential)
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation and payroll tax
• Experience processing New Zealand payroll is highly desirable
• Immediately available or on 1 week's notice or less; working holiday visa holders encouraged to apply

The advertised salary is AU$60-AU$70 per hour. The role is based in Sydney CBD with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
