Part-Time Food Services Assistant

About the role

Respect Mitchell House, a not-for-profit aged care provider in Morwell, Victoria, is looking for a part-time Food Services Assistant to join its team. You will work alongside the chef and kitchen team to prepare, serve and present meals that support the health and wellbeing of residents. The role requires flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including weekdays, weekends and public holidays as required.

Key responsibilities

• Support meal preparation, presentation and service in line with residents' dietary requirements
• Prepare and serve meals, snacks, beverages and refreshments
• Maintain food safety and infection control standards at all times
• Assist with cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas
• Monitor and record food safety requirements, including temperatures and deliveries
• Deliver meals in a friendly, respectful and professional manner
• Report concerns about residents' food or beverage intake to the Registered Nurse in Charge
• Work with hospitality and care teams to give residents a positive dining experience

Required profile

• Completion of a Food Handling Course, or willingness to obtain one
• Current National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain them
• Previous hospitality, food services or aged care experience is desirable
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting older people
