Operations Manager - New Sydney CBD Restaurant

About the role

A client is launching a brand-new quick-service restaurant in the heart of Sydney CBD and is looking for an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to lead the launch and day-to-day running. Reporting to the Director, the role covers pre-opening, recruitment, operations, budgets and customer experience, and suits someone who enjoys being on the floor and building a high-performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the restaurant for opening, recruit, onboard and train the opening team, and set up supplier relationships, ordering procedures and stock management
• Set up POS systems, staff rosters and operational processes, then lead from the front during the opening weeks
• Oversee daily operations, manage staffing levels, rosters and labour costs, and maintain food quality, hygiene and safety standards
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and workplace procedures
• Own sales performance and operational budgets, monitor wages, food costs and COGS, and manage inventory
• Drive continuous improvement by monitoring KPIs and working with the Director on business objectives

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or Operations Manager in a high-volume, quick-service, made-to-order environment
• Experience opening a new restaurant or store, from pre-opening to trading
• Demonstrated experience recruiting, rostering, training and developing teams
• Strong understanding of restaurant P&L, wage management, food costs and budgets
• Current NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Availability to work five days per week
