Operational Risk Manager, Markets

About the role

The Operational Risk Manager, Markets sits within the Risk Management Group and provides independent oversight of operational risk across markets-facing businesses, with a focus on Equities Derivatives and Trading. The role reviews and challenges risk reporting, incident management, key risk indicators, assurance activities and business-led assessments so that material risks are identified, understood and managed effectively. It is based in Sydney and is a permanent, full-time, mid-level position.

Key responsibilities

• Review and challenge risk reporting, incident management, key risk indicators, assurance activities and business-led assessments.
• Partner with business stakeholders to evaluate new initiatives and give guidance on risk management best practice.
• Analyse risk data and identify emerging themes and trends.
• Support engagement with regulators, auditors and senior management.
• Help deliver and enhance the Operational Risk Framework strategy across the organisation.

Required profile

• Experience in financial markets, with expertise in equities markets gained through business, risk or support functions.
• Experience in operational risk, internal audit or external audit within a financial services organisation.
• Tertiary qualification in finance or a related discipline; relevant professional qualifications are advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively across a global organisation.
