Nursing and Midwifery Teaching Casuals (Tutors)

About the role

The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Adelaide University is looking for tutors to deliver courses within its undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery programs. The role works under the guidance of course coordinators and uses contemporary professional and discipline-based knowledge in teaching practice to develop scholarly expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct learning activities such as lectures, tutorials and assessments, and give students timely feedback
• Use a range of pedagogical techniques, including face-to-face, online and blended learning
• Teach as part of a teaching team, including taking part in marking moderation
• Incorporate up-to-date professional and discipline-based knowledge into teaching
• Advise students and direct them to appropriate support services
• Handle course-related administrative tasks
• Take part in meetings and committees at discipline, program and academic unit level

Required profile

• Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery, with a relevant postgraduate qualification in a nursing or midwifery specialisation
• Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, including a current practicing certificate as a Registered Nurse or Midwife
• Recent clinical experience
• Ability to engage and educate a student group, with strong written and oral communication and cultural sensitivity
• High-level administrative and organisational skills
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, Australian permanent residency, or legal right to work in Australia for the term of appointment
