Senior Lecturer - Mechanical Engineering

About the role

The School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, within the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Adelaide University, is seeking a Senior Lecturer to contribute to teaching and research. This is a full-time, continuing position based in the School's City East Campus, reporting to the Academic Lead, Associate Professor Rey Chin.

Key responsibilities

• Drive high-quality research, deliver engaging and innovative teaching, and build industry and research partnerships.
• Contribute to curriculum and course development using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Supervise postgraduate research students to successful completion.
• Support research leadership, team development and university engagement activities.
• Collaborate with academic colleagues, students, industry partners and research organisations.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, with expertise in a recognised specialisation.
• Substantial record of research achievements, including publications in high-quality journals or conference proceedings.
• Demonstrated ability to win significant research funding through competitive and industry programmes.
• Substantial record of success in teaching and course coordination, leading teams in designing learning activities, assessments and content.
• Ability to attract and supervise postgraduate students, and willingness to engage with industry or external research organisations.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Preferred expertise includes advanced materials and structures, biomechanics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, dynamics and control systems, and sustainable engineering and renewable energy.
