Nurse Navigator – Emergency Department

About the role

The Nurse Navigator role is a clinical leadership position within the Emergency Department of Albury Wodonga Health. It combines patient flow management, mentorship, and quality improvement while offering flexibility to balance clinical shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support the flow of patients through the Emergency Department on a shift‑by‑shift basis.
• Provide clinical support and mentorship to nursing staff throughout each shift.
• Lead and contribute to professional development and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with a specialist clinical leadership team, including Clinical Directors, Deputy Medical Directors, Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Educators, Nurse Consultants and Nurse Practitioners.
• Balance Navigator duties with hands‑on clinical shifts to maintain a well‑rounded practice.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Nurse with AHPRA.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Emergency or Critical Care.
• Minimum three years’ experience in the relevant clinical specialty.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, including advocacy and negotiation.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and to mentor/co‑coach nursing staff.
