Multi-Skilled Scientist (Max Term)

About the role

Healius, a healthcare company with a network of medical laboratories and patient collection centres, is hiring a Scientist - Multi Skilled (Max Term) for its Western Diagnostic Pathology laboratory in Mandurah, Western Australia. This is a full-time, maximum-term contract of 12 months, working 24/7 rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens
• Operate and maintain analysers such as Beckman Coulter AU680, DxC700AU, ACCESS 2, XN1000, Haemocue, CA-660, ABL90, Grifols Eflexis, DG reader, Elecsys, Aerospray stainer and Triage
• Run rapid PCR on the GeneXpert
• Perform seminal analysis
• Carry out STAT microscopy
• Monitor quality control (QC)
• Take part in internal and external surveys
• Liaise with other departments and external customers such as hospital staff

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in the discipline
• Ability to work independently with infrequent supervision and in a busy environment
• Willingness to follow departmental policies and procedures
• Ability to provide evidence of immunisation, including Hepatitis B

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
• Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities under NATA/ISO accreditation
• Attention to detail, accuracy, time management and communication skills
