Mining Engineer – Open‑Cut Operations

About the role

Join the Capcoal Technical Services team as a Mining Engineer and play a pivotal role in mine planning, design and operational execution for one of Australia’s leading steelmaking coal operations. You will work across daily and short‑term planning horizons while supporting longer‑term growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and contribute to daily and short‑term mine plans in collaboration with operations.
• Support mine design, scheduling and production activities for dragline, drill & blast, truck and shovel fleets.
• Assist in refining mine plans to improve productivity, safety and cost efficiency.
• Provide technical input to enhance operational performance and ensure plans are practical.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least two years of experience in a mining engineering role on large‑scale open‑cut operations.
• Experience with dragline, truck‑shovel or drill‑and‑blast operations (preferred).
• Proactive problem‑solving mindset and ability to work across multiple operational areas.
• Commitment to safe work practices and site standards.

Required skills

• Mine planning and design.

• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
