Medical Receptionist

About the role

A Medical Receptionist is sought to join the team at the Claremont Clinic, acting as the welcoming face and voice of Apex Radiology. The role supports patients, referrers and clinical teams while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients and manage front-desk duties professionally and empathetically
• Answer telephone enquiries and respond sensitively to patient needs
• Schedule patient appointments and determine examination requirements
• Explain preparation instructions, procedure costs and billing information to patients
• Register patients, manage paperwork and handle billing and EFTPOS transactions
• Dispatch reports accurately and on time
• Batch Medicare and Veterans Affairs claims
• Carry out other administrative tasks as directed by management

Required profile

• Familiarity with patient booking and entry systems preferred but not required (RIS experience highly regarded)
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology preferable but not required
• Professionalism, empathy and good interpersonal communication
• Time management, multitasking and problem-solving skills
• Accuracy in data entry and ability to work independently and in a team
• Willingness to work across multiple sites if required

Required skills

• Cash handling and EFTPOS experience
• Data entry accuracy
• Confident use of Microsoft Office and practice software
