Talent Aligned · North Sydney
Job description
About the role
Talent Aligned is recruiting, on behalf of a global IoT solutions provider, a Mechatronics Engineer to join its growing engineering team. The company designs rugged, reliable technology that helps industrial and commercial operators save time, cut operating costs and manage remote assets in demanding outdoor environments. The engineer sits at the heart of the team, supporting new product development (NPD) and existing hardware lines, working closely with verification and validation teams.
Key responsibilities
- Drive NPD from early prototype design through to manufacturing release, applying robust mechatronics principles.
- Provide ongoing engineering support, optimization and lifecycle management for existing core products.
- Work with firmware, cloud, hardware and verification teams to troubleshoot hardware anomalies and implement design improvements.
- Build physical prototypes, test fixtures and assemblies for rapid iteration with the V&V team.
- Evaluate electronic assemblies, simulate failure scenarios and verify system durability, then work with teams on fixes.
- Contribute to NPD using 3D modelling, 3D printing, embedded software (C/C++) and PCBA design.
Required profile
- Formal background in mechatronics engineering; exceptional graduates with strong project portfolios or professionals with about two years of commercial experience are welcome.
- Strong technical foundation in sensors, electronic controllers, connections and communication protocols.
- Hands-on approach with physical hardware and embedded systems; previous exposure to automotive, aerospace or advanced hardware is highly regarded.
Required skills
- Programming in Python, C/C++, Arduino or Raspberry Pi for hardware scripting and development.
- Embedded software (C/C++) and PCBA design.
What we offer
- A fast-growing start-up/scale-up business in Australia.
- An autonomous, cross-functional role influencing hardware architecture and driving new product innovation.
- Work with award-winning, rugged technology deployed remotely via satellite and cellular networks.
- A team of passionate and skilled engineers.
The process is an introductory call, a technical discussion with engineering leadership and a practical task-based scenario, all handled confidentially.
