Mechanical Fitter – Defence Communications

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to support mission‑critical communications systems at the Harold E Holt Naval Communication Station in Exmouth, Western Australia. You will work on advanced space and radar technology while enjoying a balanced work‑life environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and corrective maintenance using Maximo.
• Coordinate downtime activities and provide mechanical technical advice.
• Isolate, tag out, and record mechanical equipment maintenance.
• Maintain housekeeping, safety standards and develop JSAs.
• Machining and fabricating parts as required and train other staff.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Engineering or a relevant mechanical trade.
• Current Australian C‑class driver’s licence.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a large‑scale plant or industrial environment.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV‑1 security clearance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Maximo maintenance software.
• Experience with electric motors, gearboxes, pumps and compressors.
• Machining and fabricating capabilities.
• Certifications for overhead crane, dogman, forklift, elevated work platform and crane operation (preferred).
