Mandarin Speaking Visitor - Residential Care

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for a warm and caring Mandarin-speaking volunteer to spend time with Mandarin-speaking aged care residents. Visits bring companionship and connection, helping people feel less isolated. No special experience is needed.

Key responsibilities

• Visit aged care residents and chat in Mandarin about family, favourite foods, festivals and traditions, music, places visited or lived in, or simply enjoy an unhurried conversation.
• Listen to residents' stories and share a genuine interest in them.

Required profile

• Speaks Mandarin.
• Kind, patient and a good listener, and enjoys spending time with older people.
• 18 years or older.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.

Commitment

• One hour per week for a minimum of 6 months.
• A suitable day and time during the week (Monday to Friday) can be discussed.
• Interviews and orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours.
