Manager, Regulatory Compliance

About the role

Airwallex is seeking a Manager, Regulatory Compliance to lead the regulatory engagement strategy for its Australian operations. The role will manage licensing responsibilities, ensure compliance with payment services and money remittance regulations, and act as a key liaison with regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Manage regulatory compliance components of license authorisation processes and act as a stakeholder for licence applications and regulator interactions.
• Maintain compliance and integrity risk reporting obligations for all Airwallex entities in the region.
• Advise the business on regulatory change initiatives and develop policies, processes and guidance for first‑line operations.
• Deliver the Compliance Monitoring Program, conduct targeted reviews and provide compliance training across the organisation.
• Lead proactive special‑ops projects to resolve business or operational issues and support strategic growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of compliance experience in a regulated financial institution, FinTech, legal or consulting environment.
• Strong understanding of financial regulatory laws, licensing processes and RegTech solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex regulatory topics to stakeholders, regulators and senior leadership.
• Ability to think strategically, solve complex compliance challenges and work collaboratively across functions.

Required skills

• Data proficiency for strategic decision‑making.
• Experience developing and maintaining compliance programmes, especially for payments activities.
• Familiarity with ASIC, APRA, AFCA, FMA and other regional regulators.
