Manager - Monitoring & Surveillance, Fixed Income

About the role

The Manager, Monitoring & Surveillance, Fixed Income will lead the day‑to‑day operation of trade surveillance controls for ANZ's Global Markets business. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will manage a team of analysts and ensure timely, high‑quality alert reviews, investigations and escalations across Fixed Income, Credit and Treasury activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead investigations into trading activity, documenting and escalating conduct and compliance risks.
• Conduct real‑time monitoring and deep‑dive analyses of material non‑public information‑related risks.
• Review and clear alerts to meet quality and timeliness standards.
• Serve as the primary contact for trading‑related conduct risk across Markets.
• Design, operate and assess the effectiveness of trade surveillance controls.
• Identify control gaps, drive remediation and align controls with regulatory expectations.
• Transition the Trade Surveillance platform from project delivery to business‑as‑usual, embedding processes and improving alert quality.
• Collaborate with Technology and project teams to ensure a controlled handover.
• Drive continuous improvement of surveillance systems and processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a team of surveillance analysts in a financial markets environment.
• Strong understanding of Fixed Income, Credit and Treasury trading activities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage investigations, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to act as a key liaison with compliance, technology and business stakeholders.
• Track record of identifying control gaps and implementing effective remediation.
