Maintenance and Engineering Manager, RME

About the role

Amazon is looking for an experienced Maintenance and Engineering Manager to lead its Reliability Maintenance and Engineering (RME) team in Australia. The manager is the line manager for a team of up to 6 people, including Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians (fitters and electricians), and focuses on leading and mentoring expert technicians who keep equipment reliable. The role is based at one of the operational sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and mentor the maintenance team so that site operations run safely, to standard and efficiently.
• Work with the team and the wider network to use technical expertise and build solutions.
• Support the Senior Maintenance and Engineering Manager in implementing, recording and auditing safety and statutory compliance programs with the Site Safety department and Site Leadership.
• Implement network standards and focus on preventative maintenance to ensure high equipment availability for internal customers.
• Organise and direct the team's training program so there is enough technical coverage for the shifts they own.
• Manage local projects or support Australia-wide projects as assigned by the Senior Maintenance and Engineering Manager.
• Create an operational plan to make the site more productive and efficient, including new projects that improve processes and equipment maintenance.
• Lead the team, manage their performance and development, and organise additional training.

Required profile

• Experience building and managing a high-performing team of direct reports.
• Experience in stakeholder management across different levels of the organisation.
• Maintenance team experience in an industrial or production environment handling complex business processes.
• A degree in a technical discipline.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with statutory regulations such as compliance checks and machine safety protocols.
• Experience using data analysis tools and PLC-based control systems.
• Project management or Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma experience.
• Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
