Level 3 Commis Chef – Fast‑paced Café

About the role

The Level 3 Commis Chef will support the kitchen team in preparing and serving high‑quality breakfast and lunch meals in a busy café that operates seven days a week. Reporting to the Head Chef or Sous Chef, you will help maintain food quality, safety and a clean work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to established recipes and quality standards.
• Assist with food preparation, portioning and plating during peak service periods.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and comply with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Receive, rotate and store stock correctly, minimizing waste.
• Keep workstations, equipment and preparation areas clean and organised.
• Support stock control and alert senior chefs to ordering needs.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams to ensure efficient service.
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures as required.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe work practices.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to delivering consistent, high‑quality food.
