Legal Counsel – In‑House Commercial Lawyer

About the role

KPMG Australia’s Office of General Counsel is seeking an in‑house Legal Counsel to join a supportive, innovation‑driven team. The role focuses on commercial agreements across technology‑focused services and works closely with senior executives, including the General Counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on KPMG’s evolving solutions and service offerings.
• Review, draft and negotiate a range of agreements, such as master services, procurement, implementation, licensing, SaaS, managed services and outsourcing contracts.
• Advise on structuring and responding to tenders for service provision.
• Collaborate with client engagement teams and internal Risk Management, Privacy and IT Security groups.

Required profile

• Commercial lawyer with more than 3 years post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm or equivalent in‑house role (exceptionally strong contracting experience may be considered).
• Current Australian practising certificate.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all organisational levels.
• Strong commercial acumen, project‑management, research, analysis and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Flexible, adaptable, team‑oriented and able to work independently while managing competing priorities.
