Lead Road Designer – Major Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Road Designer to lead design delivery on high‑speed motorways and major urban arterials across Queensland. You will manage the road design component from concept through detailed design, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, plan, resource and deliver road design packages within budget and schedule.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary road design team, providing coaching and capability growth.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to define resource needs and outsourcing opportunities.
• Produce accurate, clear, and compliant project documentation.
• Maintain communication with project managers, team leaders and clients on design matters.
• Ensure adherence to Arcadis, national and local design standards and work with other design disciplines to preserve overall design integrity.

Required profile

• Relevant civil engineering degree or qualification.
• Significant experience delivering major road and highway projects in a project delivery environment.
• Passion for sustainable design and innovation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 12D.
• Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of the Austroads Guide to Road Design.
• Familiarity with state‑based standards and local authority CADD standards (e.g., QLD TMR, TfNSW, VICRoads).
