Lead Architect - AI

About the role

Medibank is looking for a Lead Architect - AI to join its Data & Technology team in Melbourne. You will define the architectural direction for AI capabilities across the enterprise, helping AI initiatives deliver meaningful business outcomes while balancing innovation, governance, security and risk management. The role reports to the Enterprise Architect - Excellence Hubs.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the enterprise architecture strategy for AI across platforms, products and services.
• Develop AI roadmaps, architectural standards, reusable patterns and governance guardrails aligned with business priorities.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to turn their needs into practical AI solutions and strategies.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to improve customer, employee and operational experiences.
• Lead architecture discussions, influence decisions and give strategic guidance to senior stakeholders.
• Support architecture governance so AI solutions meet security, privacy, compliance and risk requirements.
• Maintain architecture artefacts such as reference architectures, standards, decision records and technology guidance.
• Coach and mentor architects and technical teams, and monitor industry trends to recommend actions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture or technology strategy in a complex organisation.
• Ability to design and communicate AI, data, automation or digital platform architectures that align with business outcomes.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, reliable cloud-based solutions.
• Understanding of responsible AI practices, including governance, privacy, transparency, risk management and human oversight.
• Skilled at building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and facilitating workshops.
