SAP Technical Consultant (ABAP)

About the role

Medibank is looking for a mid-level ABAP consultant to join its SAP practice in Docklands. The SAP Technical Consultant develops, enhances, integrates and supports SAP solutions across Medibank's SAP landscape, working closely with functional consultants, business stakeholders and senior technical resources. The role delivers high-quality technical solutions, resolves production issues and contributes to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop technical specifications and contribute to solution designs aligned with Medibank standards and architecture principles.
• Take part in peer reviews, quality assurance and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Collaborate with functional and technical teams to deliver solutions that integrate across SAP and non-SAP platforms.
• Ensure solutions follow agreed standards, quality expectations and integration requirements.
• Promote development best practices such as Test-Driven Development and coding standards.
• Provide production support, troubleshoot issues and resolve production fixes with functional consultants and system analysts.
• Identify areas for system improvement and prepare documentation for fixes, support activities and technical changes.
• Perform unit testing and support system integration and user acceptance testing where required.
• Contribute to post-incident reviews, root cause analysis and lessons learned.
• Deliver SAP programs for projects and help translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of ABAP development experience.
• Excellent knowledge of ABAP, including object-oriented concepts.
• Experience creating RFC, BAPI, WRICEF objects, user exits and BAdIs in an ECC6 or S/4HANA environment.
• Experience in production support, including background and queue job monitoring.
• Strong debugging skills and ability to turn functional specifications into technical ones.
• Willingness to learn and work in PHI-related modules.

Required skills

• Integration using RFC, proxy, web services and oData.
• Nice to have: UI5/Fiori experience on SAP ERP or S/4HANA.
• Knowledge of SAP FS-PM (Policy Management) or CRM is an added advantage.
