Junior Learning Support Teacher

About the role

The Junior Learning Support Teacher creates an inclusive learning environment at Canterbury College, providing targeted support to students with diverse learning needs and collaborating with teachers to adjust curriculum and assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide learning support and targeted interventions for students with diverse needs.
• Develop, implement and review individual support plans in collaboration with students, families and staff.
• Monitor student progress, analyse data and adjust support strategies.
• Manage a caseload of students, maintaining communication with parents and teachers.
• Contribute to NCCD processes, learning support programs and whole‑school inclusion initiatives.
• Attend meetings and teach classes as required.

Required profile

• Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
• Current Blue Card or eligibility to obtain one.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents and colleagues.
• Commitment to child safety, student wellbeing and inclusive education.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and disabilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Disability Standards for Education and NCCD requirements.
• Ability to develop and implement learning adjustments and support plans.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and data analysis skills.
