Director of Programs, Strategy and Capability

About the role

The Director – Programs, Strategy and Capability is a senior executive position reporting to the CEO of FNF, Australia’s national First Nations financial education provider. The role leads the design, delivery and impact measurement of national programs, ensuring they are culturally safe, high‑quality and sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Shape organisational strategy as an Executive Team member and develop programme and capability road‑maps.
• Design, deliver and maintain culturally grounded education and training programmes, including content, communication assets and evaluation frameworks.
• Build organisational and community capability through systems, policies, workforce planning and professional development.
• Manage programme budgets, resource allocation, compliance, risk and reporting to funders, government and the Board.
• Lead, coach and develop the Education and Training team, fostering an inclusive, high‑trust culture.
• Develop and sustain relationships with First Nations communities, funders, government agencies and corporate partners.

Required profile

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander with strong First Nations cultural competency.
• Proven senior leadership experience in strategy development and team management, preferably in not‑for‑profit, community, education or social impact settings.
• Experience in the financial services sector or public policy environment.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee programme delivery, budgets, compliance and outcomes reporting.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and emotional intelligence.
