Teaching Focused Academic – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

The university seeks a Teaching Focused Academic to lead teaching, curriculum design, and student support within Mechanical Engineering. You will integrate industry‑informed, project‑based learning and contribute to accreditation processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high‑quality learning activities across Mechanical Engineering units.
• Contribute to integrated, industry‑informed and project‑based learning, including Integrated Design Projects.
• Incorporate contemporary practice such as advanced manufacturing, automation, robotics, industrial systems and production engineering into teaching.
• Assess student work, provide timely feedback, and support achievement of learning outcomes.
• Participate in curriculum renewal, unit coordination, and continuous improvement of assessment.
• Maintain professional currency and undertake scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Build productive industry relationships and support Engineers Australia accreditation.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Current or recent industry or practice‑based experience.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging higher‑education teaching in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of contemporary pedagogy, including project‑based and authentic engineering learning.
• Experience developing curriculum, assessment and contributing to academic quality improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with a commitment to inclusive education.
