Junior Designer - Structural

About the role

DRA Global is seeking a Junior Designer – Structural to join its Newcastle CBD office. Reporting to the Regional Manager – NSW, you will support the design and development of structural components for a variety of infrastructure projects within the mining and minerals sector.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development of structural designs.
• Create detailed drawings and 3D models of structural components.
• Utilise CAD design software to produce accurate 2‑D and 3‑D models.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes and standards.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural designs into overall project solutions.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Engineering – completed or in progress (desirable).
• Understanding of structural design principles.
• Familiarity with design software, particularly MicroStation v8i (SS6).
• Experience with SMP, tailings pipelines, and bauxite/alumina projects is advantageous.
• Exposure to Bowen Basin site conditions is a plus.
