Junior Accountant

About the role

Karara Mining Limited, an Ansteel Group company, is looking for a Junior Accountant to join its Finance team in the Perth CBD office. The role supports the finance team with accurate and timely financial information through day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance and broader finance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
• Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports
• Support BAS, GST and other statutory compliance requirements
• Prepare month-end journals, accruals and related accounting adjustments
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Assist with external audit processes
• Work with experienced team members while progressively taking on more responsibility
• Help improve financial processes, systems and reporting, and develop proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Provide ad hoc support across financial accounting functions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and practices
• Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• National police clearance
• Legally permitted to work permanently in Australia
