Investment Operations / Process Improvement Analyst

About the role

An award-winning Australian investment manager with offices in Melbourne and Sydney is looking for a junior-level candidate for a unique role. About 80% of the work involves designing and implementing automation tools that improve team productivity, with the remaining 20% covering middle office day-to-day tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and integrate automation tools that streamline middle office processes such as reconciliation, reporting and data validation.
• Extract, transform and connect data across internal systems and administrator reporting to support automation and analysis.
• Help design, build and implement an in-house database, including data preparation and loading, extraction and reporting.
• Assist with daily operational tasks: cash and security reconciliations, corporate actions processing, trade monitoring and settlement.
• Maintain accurate portfolio data in IRESS IPS and other internal systems.
• Help monitor portfolio compliance mandates in the portfolio management system.
• Prepare client reports, including monthly and quarterly reporting, and extract portfolio and performance data.
• Support internal reporting for the investment and client services teams.

Required profile

• 1+ years of experience in investment operations, investment administration or a middle office role.
• Demonstrated ability to build and integrate tools that automate manual processes.
• Experience designing and building a database, preparing and loading data, writing SQL queries and reporting with tools such as Power BI.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational capabilities, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
