Investigations Officer

About the role

A Regional Council in Queensland is seeking an Investigations Officer through its recruitment partner Public Sector People, on a temporary contract with the possibility of extension or direct appointment. The officer supports the Investigations and Audits Coordinator, City Standards and Regulation, undertaking investigations into alleged breaches of state legislation and local laws. The role contributes to regulatory compliance, community outcomes and the improvement of investigative processes. It is based in Brisbane and starts as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake investigations and collate evidence to identify legislative and local law offences and progress associated enforcement action.
• Evaluate whether a health service provider's course of action meets professional, safe and situation-appropriate healthcare practice standards (accountability).
• Prepare documents, technical reports and briefs of evidence to support court and tribunal enforcement actions.
• Conduct inspections, gather and assess evidence, and support enforcement and prosecution activities.
• Provide clear advice to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Background in investigations or law enforcement.
• Availability as soon as possible.
• Tertiary qualification or Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
• Experience with council or government is beneficial but not mandatory.

What we offer

• Pay of $42-$55 per hour plus 12% superannuation, paid weekly.
• Vehicle and uniform provided.
• Initial contract until 28 February, with extension or direct appointment possible.
