Internal Auditor

About the role

Join Energy Queensland’s Internal Audit team and help shape how risk is managed across Australia’s largest government‑owned electricity organisation. You will assess processes, evaluate controls and deliver insights that influence business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and test key business processes and internal controls.
• Evaluate risk frameworks and compliance with governance standards.
• Contribute to audit planning, execution and reporting across the Internal Audit Program.
• Prepare clear, timely audit reports and independent assessments of control effectiveness.
• Engage senior stakeholders to communicate findings and recommendations.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related field.
• Strong fundamentals in audit, risk or assurance with a willingness to learn.
• Proactive mindset and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Experience or exposure to internal audit, risk or assurance activities.
• Understanding of internal controls, governance and risk frameworks (e.g., COSO).
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing standards.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Clear communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships.
