Internal Audit Senior Consultant

About the role

Protiviti is seeking a Senior Consultant for its Internal Audit & Financial Advisory team in Sydney. You will work across multiple industries, delivering high‑quality audit and advisory services while building strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with clients to understand operations, risks and objectives, and maintain strong relationships.
• Plan and execute internal audit engagements, including risk assessments, audit scopes, fieldwork, testing and reporting.
• Supervise and mentor junior consultants, providing guidance throughout audit projects.
• Prepare and present clear audit reports and recommendations to senior management and audit committees.
• Manage multiple assignments, ensuring timely delivery and budget compliance.
• Stay current with industry trends and contribute to innovative audit methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with frameworks such as COSO, COBIT and ISO 31000.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in internal audit or audit consulting.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Professional certification (CA, CPA, CIA) is highly regarded but not mandatory.
• Willingness to travel to client sites, including out‑of‑town travel.

Required skills

• Internal audit technical skills: stakeholder interviews, audit scopes, work programs, reports and flowcharts.
• Knowledge of internal audit frameworks (COSO, COBIT) and risk management standards (ISO 31000).
