Instrumentation & Control Engineer

About the role

ACCIONA is delivering the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant in Perth, a critical infrastructure project for sustainable water supply. We are looking for an Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join the team and lead the electrical, instrumentation and control (E&I) scope from design through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and review electrical and I&C construction methodologies, installation work packs and testing procedures.
• Plan and schedule E&I activities to align with project milestones and commissioning sequences.
• Oversee installation, calibration and integration of instrumentation, PLC/SCADA control systems and electrical infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with design specifications, drawings, QA/QC requirements and relevant standards (AS/NZS, IEC).
• Monitor subcontractor performance for switchboards, cabling, field instrumentation and control packages.
• Support procurement, inspection and delivery of MCCs, transformers, analyzers and field devices.
• Contribute to cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting for the E&I scope.
• Identify technical risks in control systems integration and apply digital engineering tools such as BIM, 3‑D models and digital twins.

Required profile

• Qualified engineer with experience in electrical, instrumentation and control systems on large‑scale industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of safety standards, environmental requirements and project procedures.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and manage subcontractors.

Required skills

• PLC and SCADA programming.
• Instrumentation calibration and integration.
• Use of BIM, 3‑D modelling and digital twins.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS and IEC standards.
• Experience with MCCs, transformers, analyzers and field devices.
