Incident Response Specialist

About the role

The Incident Response Specialist will be a key member of QBE's Cyber Defence Centre, leading complex cybersecurity incidents and providing proactive, technical analysis to protect the organisation from modern attack methods.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate responses to high‑severity cybersecurity incidents across technical and business stakeholders.
• Act as primary escalation point during complex investigations, overseeing decisions, risks and containment actions.
• Validate Tier 2 investigations, including scope of compromise, lateral movement analysis and containment effectiveness.
• Drive threat‑led response activities such as targeted threat hunting based on credible intelligence.
• Translate threat intelligence into operational outcomes like detection improvements and incident criteria enhancements.
• Contribute to post‑incident reviews and embed lessons learned into playbooks and processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Security Operations, Incident Response or a related cybersecurity function.
• Strong background investigating and responding to cybersecurity incidents in enterprise environments.
• Ability to lead or coordinate technical response activities during complex incidents.
• Solid understanding of modern attacker tactics, techniques and threat landscapes.
