HSE Manager – NSW & NZ

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated HSE Manager for New South Wales and New Zealand. Based in Sydney, you will lead health, safety and environment performance across major rail and infrastructure projects, supporting both operational delivery and pre‑contract bid work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HSE across NSW and NZ operations and projects.
• Act as HSE lead for major bids and tenders, developing methodologies, strategies and client submissions.
• Obtain and maintain Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC) accreditation and ensure compliance with legal, contract and Hitachi requirements.
• Embed High Reliability Organisation principles and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide leadership, coaching and strategic HSE advice to senior management.

Required profile

• 7+ years HSE leadership experience in rail, infrastructure, construction or engineering.
• Proven success supporting major bids, tenders or project pursuits.
• Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, assurance and governance.
• Experience with FSC accreditation highly regarded.
• Degree‑qualified in WHS or Environmental Management.
