Hospital Pharmacist (12‑month or 7‑month contract) – Maitland

About the role

We are seeking a registered pharmacist to join the multidisciplinary team at Slade Pharmacy within Maitland Private Hospital. The position offers full training and the chance to develop clinical pharmacy expertise in a supportive hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on clinical pharmacy services and support patient care across the hospital.
• Efficiently dispense and distribute medications, conduct therapeutic drug monitoring and manage adverse drug reactions.
• Deliver medication counselling and education to patients.
• Perform medication history interviews, medication reconciliation and pharmaceutical reviews during transfers of care.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, offering advice on medication therapy.
• Participate in training sessions for pharmacy, nursing, medical and allied health staff.
• Contribute to quality‑use‑of‑medicine projects, audits, working groups or committees.
• Gain exposure to oncology pharmacy services as part of the role.

Required profile

• Australian working rights for the contract duration.
• Current AHPRA registration with no practice restrictions.
• Personal indemnity insurance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of working autonomously and prioritising workload.
• Hospital experience not required – comprehensive training will be provided.
