Head of Retail Credit Risk

About the role

ANZ is seeking a senior leader to head its Retail Credit Risk function within the Business & Private Bank. The role will oversee specialised credit portfolios, including Emerging Corporate, Private Bank, Agribusiness and Commercial Real Estate, ensuring sustainable growth and strong risk outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for credit risk management across the specialised credit line of business.
• Provide executive oversight of complex credit decisions, governance frameworks and risk appetite alignment.
• Influence enterprise‑wide credit strategy through collaboration with senior executives, regulators and key stakeholders.
• Build and nurture a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and disciplined risk management.
• Monitor portfolio quality, drive improvements and report on risk performance to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in credit risk, portfolio management and regulatory environments, preferably within private banking, emerging corporate, agribusiness or commercial real‑estate segments.
• Proven strategic risk leadership and governance capabilities.
• Strong executive stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Ability to adapt style and judgement to evolving business needs and align with ANZ’s 2030 Strategy.
• Track record of leading large teams through change while maintaining a positive, open mindset.
