Haskell Developer (Remote AU & NZ)

About the role

Bellroy is a product company behind a bespoke e-commerce platform, extending its capabilities, integrating with digital marketplaces worldwide and supporting new carry goods. It is looking for a developer comfortable in functional programming to help build an elegant platform as the business grows. The role is remote, based in Australia or New Zealand, or from the Collingwood office in Victoria.

Required profile

• 2+ years writing production code in a functional language such as Haskell, Clojure, Elixir, F#, Scala (Scalaz or equivalent), OCaml, Erlang, or a strongly functional style in Rust, Kotlin or Swift.
• Pride in well-designed, maintainable code and a preference for deepening craft over moving up the management ladder.
• Ability to collaborate across product design, data science, logistics and other teams.

Required skills

• Functional programming mindset: maps, folds, algebraic data types, types and composition.
• Nice to have: Nix, the AWS ecosystem, and Ruby on Rails (a legacy Rails ecosystem interfaces with the Haskell services).

What we offer

• A learning budget.
• Hack days, company-wide learning events, weekly technology team book clubs and mob programming sessions.
• Weekly functional programming meetups and "cooldown" days to improve skills, tooling and workflows.
