Graduate Electrical Engineer, Rail & Metro

About the role

We are seeking a recent Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Rail & Metro team in North Sydney. As a Graduate at SMEC, you’ll be part of a high‑impact talent group, contributing to major rail and metro infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of real infrastructure projects, contributing to design, analysis and documentation.
• Develop design artefacts including drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across areas such as roads, drainage or structures under senior guidance.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand implementation of designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and meet project milestones.
• Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practices on the job.

Required profile

• Motivated Electrical Engineering graduate who enjoys problem‑solving and teamwork.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous).
