About the role

Google is seeking a senior Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager to lead its strategic public affairs agenda in Australia. The role combines policy expertise, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate research into compelling narratives that influence regional discourse.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute Australia’s strategic public affairs direction, owning end‑to‑end workstreams for high‑priority policy programs and advocacy campaigns.
• Collaborate with marketing, communications and product teams to amplify Government Affairs and Public Policy objectives.
• Provide data‑driven insights to align local priorities with global investments and guide resource allocation.
• Represent the region in cross‑functional forums, ensuring strategies are grounded in credible external policy analysis.
• Monitor the Australian digital economy, tech regulatory landscape and frontier market dynamics to anticipate policy impacts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in public affairs, government relations or policy advocacy.
• Deep knowledge of Australian digital economic policy and technology regulation.
• Proven ability to manage high‑stakes, fast‑moving programs and forecast regulatory changes.
• Strong network with key opinion formers, academics and industry councils across Australia.
