General Practitioner – Part Time

About the role

The General Practitioner will deliver high‑quality primary health services to immigration detainees at the detention centre, working two days per week on‑site with flexible scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Provide preventative health checks, immunisations, health promotion and manage acute medical presentations.
• Oversee chronic disease management, complex comorbidities and act as the primary medical escalation point for health staff.
• Support patients with mental health issues in collaboration with a multidisciplinary mental health team.
• Maintain comprehensive, high‑quality medical records and adapt care to evolving operational requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with full, unrestricted registration on the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship with RACGP, ACRRM or equivalent substantial clinical experience.
• Demonstrated capability in managing mental health, substance use and trauma‑informed care in high‑risk settings.
• Authorization or willingness to obtain opioid substitution treatment prescribing authority.
