General Manager – Wholesale Distribution & Retail Supply

About the role

An established Australian-owned family business, which partners with Australian and international suppliers to deliver consumer products through a B2B retail network across Australia and New Zealand, is seeking a General Manager. The role reports directly to the owners and covers sales, operations, customer service and finance. It is a hands-on leadership position in Brisbane, QLD, where the candidate leads from the front and shapes commercial direction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the commercial and operational performance of the business across sales, operations, customer service and finance
• Work with the leadership team to improve business performance and review commercial opportunities
• Strengthen customer relationships and identify new routes to market
• Evaluate future growth initiatives, including acquisitions and new growth opportunities
• Develop high-performing teams and make commercially sound decisions

Required profile

• Experienced General Manager, Business Unit Manager or senior commercial leader with a proven track record of leading teams, owning a P&L and driving business performance
• Experience in a B2B product business supplying retail customers, such as wholesale distribution, consumer products, FMCG, homewares, giftware, toys, stationery, health and wellbeing, pharmacy, hardware, apparel or similar
• Background may come from a manufacturer or distributor, with a strong understanding of retail sales channels, inventory management and commercial operations
• Tertiary qualifications are highly preferred
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia
