Function Manager - The Ship Inn

About the role

The Ship Inn is looking for a Function Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of events and functions that bring the community together. The role sits alongside the Publican and Assistant Managers and involves managing a diverse calendar of weddings, corporates, shows, entertainment and private functions, while leading and developing the functions team.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, consult with clients, execute and follow up on events
• Manage and coordinate a diverse events calendar and tailor each event to individual client needs
• Manage payments, contracts and event details
• Lead and develop the functions team, communicate timelines and delegate roles
• Build strong client relationships and respond promptly
• Identify growth opportunities, reach out to existing clients and contribute to sales strategies, packages, menus and upgrades
• Work closely with the Publican and Assistant Managers
• Perform physical tasks such as setting up function spaces, staging tables and decor, and moving equipment and supplies

Required profile

• Diploma in Event Management, Hospitality or Business, or at least 2-3 years of relevant event/function management experience
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple events and priorities
• Friendly, sociable and approachable; solution focused and independent thinker
• Ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently
