Food and Beverage Supervisor (Event Operations)

About the role

JW Marriott in Surfers Paradise is looking for a Food and Beverage Supervisor to oversee event operations, from weddings and gala dinners to corporate conferences and special celebrations. You will be the trusted point of contact for guests, clients, vendors and meeting planners, coordinating every detail so each event runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Design, confirm and communicate room layouts and set-up requirements for special events.
• Develop and follow checklists and itineraries for group events, and troubleshoot event problems on site.
• Serve as liaison between clients, outside vendors, meeting planners and others involved in events.
• Enter and retrieve information from computer databases to update records, files and reservations, and send documents by computer, mail or fax.
• Prepare weekly departmental payroll paperwork.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling, disciplining and coaching staff, and act as first point of contact for the Open Door Policy process.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
• Sound knowledge of hospitality, food and beverage or banquet operations.
• Proven people management and team leadership under pressure.
• Customer service experience and strong spoken and written English.
• Current RSA.
• Flexible to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
