Financial Controller – Transport Logistics

About the role

This is a high‑visibility position within one of Sydney’s most established privately owned transport logistics businesses. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the full financial operations, providing real‑time data to support an expanding portfolio of contracted and charter work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end and year‑end close, preparing consolidated monthly management reports for the CEO and Group CFO.
• Oversee job and contract costing across fleet operations, ensuring margin visibility by service line and client segment.
• Maintain a 13‑week rolling cash‑flow forecast aligned to operational and fleet cycles.
• Ensure compliance with AASB standards, GST, FBT, and STP obligations; manage external audit and corporate tax requirements.
• Lead annual budgeting, quarterly re‑forecasting, and partner with the CEO on CAPEX evaluations for fleet acquisition and depot investment.
• Identify cost efficiencies in fuel, maintenance, and subcontractor spend, building real‑time profitability visibility per route and contract.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years of finance experience, preferably in transport, logistics, passenger services, or a similarly asset‑intensive environment.
• Strong proficiency in ERP systems; MYOB experience is advantageous.
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling.
• Proven ability to translate operational data into clear financial reporting in a fast‑moving setting.
