Financial Controller (CFO) – Senior Finance Leadership

About the role

The Financial Controller (CFO) provides strategic leadership and oversight of Parks Victoria's financial control, reporting and corporate insurance functions. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Business Services, this senior role supports organisational performance, compliance and sustainability within a collaborative, purpose‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a specialist team delivering financial accounting, transactional and reporting services.
• Oversee the organisation's corporate insurance programme, including policy management and claims.
• Ensure the integrity of financial data, processes and effective budget management.
• Maintain compliance with the Financial Management Act 1994, Standing Directions of the Minister for Finance and other legislative frameworks.
• Provide authoritative financial advice to the Executive and senior leaders on performance, risks and opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems and processes to support the transformation agenda.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior financial management roles within a complex, preferably public‑sector, organisation.
• Strong knowledge of public‑sector financial frameworks, accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements.
• Proven track record leading financial accounting, reporting, audit and budget management functions.
• Ability to deliver strategic financial advice to executive stakeholders.
• Experience overseeing corporate insurance programmes.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Membership (or eligibility) of CPA Australia or CA ANZ.
