Financial Controller (12‑15 month contract)

About the role

A large privately owned Australian services organisation is looking for an experienced Financial Controller on a 12‑15 month fixed‑term contract. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own a broad finance remit that includes reporting, audit, treasury, controls and team leadership while contributing fresh ideas to a $1 billion business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly financial reporting and month‑end close processes.
• Coordinate year‑end reporting and manage the external audit.
• Oversee statutory and income‑tax compliance.
• Manage treasury activities, cash‑flow forecasting and banking relationships.
• Review and strengthen financial controls and processes.
• Support commercial and credit reviews for new customers.
• Mentor and develop a growing accounting team across a national branch network.
• Partner with the CFO on broader finance and business matters and contribute to systems, data and finance transformation.

Required profile

• Proven Financial Controller experience in a medium‑to‑large organisation.
• Strong capability in financial reporting, month‑end and year‑end processes.
• Experience managing external audit and statutory reporting.
• Demonstrated treasury and cash‑flow management skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Experience in services, contracting, infrastructure or project‑based environments is advantageous.
