Finance Manager - Sydney CBD

About the role

A global advertising and media agency in Sydney is looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of the numbers. You will run the month end, look after tax and compliance, report to head office and lead a close-knit team. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to make the function better, not just keep it running. You will report to the Finance Director and work closely with the CFO, and the business is growing, so there is room to build the team and shape how finance works.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting
• Manage sales and cost WIP so jobs are costed, recoverable and closed on time
• Prepare the consolidation reporting pack for head office, including intercompany and group disclosures
• Handle tax and compliance, including BAS, FBT, the company income tax return and transfer pricing
• Support Pillar Two and Country by Country reporting
• Run overhead control, IFRS 16 lease accounting and the fixed asset register
• Partner with account service and production teams on job profitability and cost control
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, and improve processes and automate manual reporting

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualified, with at least five years post-qualification and some leadership experience
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS 16
• Experience preparing group reporting packs for an overseas parent or head office
• Hands-on Australian tax compliance, including BAS, FBT and company income tax
• Exposure to transfer pricing, Pillar Two and Country by Country reporting, or the technical skills to pick them up
• Agency, media, professional services or other project-based WIP experience is ideal; mid-tier and Big 4 backgrounds are welcome

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and confidence with large data sets and finance systems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with non-finance teams
